Boston festival of Iranian cinema to start this week

The Boston Festival of Films from Iran is to screen a number of acclaimed Iranian movies.

The Boston Festival of Films from Iran has scheduled to screen a number of acclaimed Iranian movies at the Museum of Fine Arts.

The website of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston recently announced that The Boston Festival of Films from Iran will start on January 19, 2017.

The organizers are set to pay tribute to late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami by opening the program with screening one of his greatest masterpieces ‘The Taste of Cherry’ (1997).

Kiarostami’s masterpiece has grabbed the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

The US event will also screen ‘76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami’ which is a montage film made by Kiarostami’s close friend Seifollah Samadian.

The festival will also present ‘The Salesman’ by award-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi. The film is among contenders for the 2017 edition of the Academy Awards for best foreign-language film.

‘Radio Dreams’ by Babak Jalali, ‘Lantouri’ by Reza Dormishian, the documentary ‘Starless Dreams’ by Mehrdad Oskouei, ‘Me’ by Soheil Beiraqi, ‘Drought & Lies’ by Pedram Alizadeh, as well as ‘A Dragon Arrives!’ by Mani Haqiqi are among the lineup.

The Boston Festival of Films from Iran will come to conclusion on January 29.
